Key West Parasailing Is Just The Beginning
by Christine OKelly

One of the most exciting parts about going on any vacation or trip is choosing where you are going to go and just what you are going to do once you get there. The amount of daydreaming, planning, and researching that goes into booking the perfect trip of course differs from person to person, but one thing is for sure, you want to go where the activities are.

For many vacationers, that place is Key West, home of the sun, surf, and sand. There are plenty of things to do on the island, and far too many to list. So if you decide it is the place for you, you are going to want to have a good plan in place. Here is just a small sampling of some o the fun that awaits you on this south Florida island.

Key West Parasailing -- Head and Shoulders Above The Rest

One of the most fun activities on the island is parasailing. It is an amazingly popular way to break up a day lounging on the beach. Key West parasailing is safe and fun, and an easy way for families, couples, and friends to have a real extreme adventure without having to risk life and limb.

Strapped to a speedboat, you - and a partner if you decide to ride tandem - will soar high above the water, beach, and buildings below. You will have unimaginable and unobstructed views of nearly the entire city, its neighborhoods, and the life beneath your feet. If you want to experience flying without worrying about flying too close to the sun, then parasailing is the perfect activity for you.

So Many Tours, So Little Time

The island is full of history. From military to literature, local lore to ghostly tales, this is an island with a story to tell. For those who like a little learning with their sand and sport, the city offers its tourists plenty of options for tours and guided trips.

For those who wish to be frightened, there are the haunted houses and streets of Old Town. On these tours, not only will you get to listen to scary tales in the dwindling daylight, you will also have the opportunity to see where everything happened as you and your guide explore the ghastly settings of urban myth. These guided ghost tours are so popular, they have been featured on the Discovery Channel, History Channel, Travel Channel, and the BBC.

Get Lost At The Dry Tortugas National Park

Located just 70 miles west of the island is the Dry Tortugas National Park. This remote and uninhabited island chain is home to two historical structures: the Dry Tortugas Light and Fort Jefferson. The former is one of the only lighthouses to remain operational during the Civil War and the latter is the largest masonry structure in the Western Hemisphere. If history and mammoth structures seem right up your alley, then you need to add this location to your list of things to do.
